Description
The Parts Handler is responsible for performing day‑to‑day activities of the Production Yard or Warehouse in accordance with current federal, state/provincial, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing this facility. The Production/Yard Leader may direct this position to assure that the parts are handled in a safe, efficient, and proper manner.
EssentialJob Duties
- Safely maneuver around the yard or warehouse.
- Find/retrieve parts.
- Package parts for delivery or prepping.
- Handle any paperwork involved with the parts.
- Pull work orders.
- Use hand tools and power tools to remove parts from cars.
- Operate a powered industrial truck (forklift) or order picker.
- Pull and prep all sheet metal and other orders.
- Tag all parts properly for the destination.
- Communicate with Sales and Dispatch.
- Must display a positive and friendly attitude and appropriate behavior during work hours.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Not responsible for supervising employees.
RequirementsMinimum Requirements – Education & Experience
- High School Diploma/GED (preferred).
- Working knowledge of automotive parts.
- Basic math: add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure; compute rates, ratios, percentages; draw and interpret graphs.
- Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics applications.
- Basic oral communication; ability to write brief messages and keep simple records.
- Resolve routine, somewhat repetitive problems using clear directions and procedures.
- Make decisions that affect one's own job or assigned functional area.
- Work under broad guidance and overall direction from supervisor/manager.
- Prioritize and handle assigned routine tasks appropriately.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds; on occasion up to 100 pounds.
- May be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment; work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles; may need awkward positions; may need PPE; possible exposure to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
- Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays, contingent on position requirements.
