Materials Department Manager II

Terracon is seeking a Materials Department Manager II to oversee all projects within the department, ensuring timely execution, quality delivery, and client satisfaction.

• Supervise or monitor all projects in progress to guarantee work is completed on schedule and in accordance with client requirements and company policies.
• Prepare proposals and cost estimates, ensuring proper scoping of services and pricing to achieve desired profitability.
• Oversee daily department operations, including staff training, performance reviews, equipment utilization, safety oversight, quality of services, and timely delivery of deliverables.
• Participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities while building and maintaining client relationships.
• Direct short‑range business development activities of department personnel to secure adequate fee support for payroll manpower.
• Plan and execute recruitment, selection, training, mentoring, and development of all department employees.
• Prepare and execute the annual department business plan.
• Oversee key department metrics of revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.
• Develop understanding of project‑related risk, familiar with company risk policies, and promote safety and quality best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or related technical discipline plus 8 years’ practice experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years’ related experience.
• Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

• Certification or licensure in field of expertise.
• Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer status preferred.
