Still She Rises, Inc. (SSR) provides free legal representation to pregnant women, mothers, and women who are primary caregivers who have been brought into the criminal legal and family policing systems. Founded in North Tulsa, SSR delivers client-centered, innovative, and holistic legal advocacy. SSR seeks highly motivated individuals who are deeply committed to indigent defense and trauma‑informed, client-centered practice.

About the Role

The Still She Rises Practice Leader sets the vision, standards, and direction for the Investigation Practice, ensuring high-quality, trauma‑informed, and client‑centered investigative work across the organization. As a key member of SSR’s leadership team, the Practice Leader builds and maintains the systems, workflows, and practice standards that support strong interdisciplinary defense. This role manages, coaches, and develops Investigation staff. They also lead professional development and competency frameworks, and partner closely with attorneys, client advocates, and organizational leadership to align investigative work with case strategy and SSR’s broader mission.

While the Practice Leader may occasionally carry a small number of high‑priority cases, the primary focus is on practice strategy, quality, capacity, and team development.

Responsibilities
  • Model and reinforce high-quality, trauma‑informed client engagement, ensuring investigators apply consistent, culturally humble practices.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, supervisors, and interdisciplinary partners to ensure investigative work aligns with case strategy, organizational standards, and broader team goals.
  • Identify and communicate practice‑wide investigative needs, gaps, risks, and trends to inform hearings, strategic decisions, and high‑stakes case preparation.
  • Support supervisors and investigators in navigating sensitive client or field situations, offering guidance, problem‑solving, and escalation support as needed.
  • Represent the Investigation Practice in cross‑organizational collaboration, ensuring investigative perspectives inform program‑wide decisions, partnerships, and strategic initiatives.
Learning, Growth & Practice Contribution
  • Lead the professional development and training strategy and design for the Investigation Practice.
  • Develop and refine frameworks for competency progression, coaching, evaluation, and staff development.
  • Coach and develop supervisors, ensuring strong performance management, consistent quality standards, and effective staff development across the Investigation Practice.
  • Model SSR’s values and culture, fostering a healthy, sustainable, and high‑performing practice.
Role‑Specific Practice Functions
  • Establish and maintain practice standards, SOPs, workflows, technology expectations, and quality benchmarks across the Investigation Practice.
  • Lead strategic planning, capacity forecasting, staffing decisions, and long‑term practice improvements.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Operations Director to advance practice‑wide initiatives and cross‑organizational priorities.
  • Monitor practice performance and implement improvements to ensure consistent, high‑quality investigative outcomes.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5+ years of investigation, mitigation, or interdisciplinary legal client‑services experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and coaching teams and setting practice standards or systems.
