Job Overview
This position directs a highly complex department and/or product category with significant scope and financial and operational impact. The role manages the pharmaceutical category, including Brands, Generics, and Specialty drugs, and develops category strategy to meet organizational and customer goals across segments. The incumbent is accountable for plans that increase sales, market share, and profitability through category analysis, strategy development, supplier profitability, and new product launches.
Key Responsibilities Category Management- Own all category team performance activities: sales & market share analysis, identifying underperforming categories, mitigating costs.
- Develop sales & market share plans in both brand and generic products.
- Establish strategy including business development and lead relationship development with key manufacturer partners.
- Negotiate cost, distribution agreements, and all business terms with partners.
- Design business plans with manufacturer partners for mutual growth.
- Accountable for financial achievement of growth incentive/rebate programs, service fees, quarterly rebate ROI updates, supplier contribution, and profitability, as well as category budget targets.
- Ensure item data accuracy and process efficiency for all new product submissions.
- Establish approval criteria for new item/supplier set up and governing rules related to marketing assets, pricing, forecast, and opening order quantities.
- Develop efficient processes for new item code creation, web attributes, descriptions, and catalog copy.
- Onboard new suppliers ensuring regulatory terms are met.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop promotional plans for successful launches.
- Select and price products within respective categories.
- Negotiate buying deals with suppliers and ensure proper communication to Inventory Management.
- Ensure accurate marketing product classifications and item descriptions.
- Accountable for A-system and/or e‑commerce classifications, item descriptions, and images.
- Own SKU optimization and non‑saleable pool resolution and cost book accuracy.
- Strategy and management of seasonal products to meet customer needs, deliver profitability, and minimize inventory risk.
- Full accountability for category layout and presentation across all channel media and marketing platforms within deadlines.
- Resolve all issues in the presentation process.
- Complete understanding of P&L and financial metrics.
- Establish overall product category business strategy.
- Growth of category through new supplier relationships and new product additions.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
- Outstanding management and leadership skills; ability to attract, retain, motivate, develop, mentor, and coach high‑performance teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective dispute resolution.

Typically 12+ years in increasing responsibility and complexity in product category management; 5+ years of management experience.
Preferred EducationBachelor’s Degree or global equivalent in a related discipline. Master’s Degree or global equivalent is a plus.
Travel & Physical DemandsTravel typically less than 10%. Office environment with no special physical demands.
CompensationPosted range: $144,235 to $206,436. Eligible for bonus. Additional benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision Coverage; 401K Plan with Company Match; PTO;
