Position: Lead Welder (Day Shift)

Arcosa Wind Towers

Lead Welder on Day Shift. Provide training, guidance and direction to assigned employees in an efficient, clean, safe and cost-effective manner to achieve organization objectives.

What you’ll do:
  • Conduct audits of welding operators and process best practice safety for welding
  • Troubleshoot welding process and equipment related issues
  • Read and understand all Weld Procedure Specifications and customer welding requirements
  • Visually analyze welds to determine welder training needs
  • Help with training of new welders
  • Complete required documentation and records as required
  • Proficiently perform flat welding
  • Proficiently operate torch
  • Lay-out and mark weld points
  • Comply with all safety rules and procedures
  • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Skills, Qualifications, and

Education:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years experience in training of production welding operators
  • 4+ years of production welding experience
  • Experience operating GMAW, FCAW, GTAW (Tulsa only), SAW
  • Pass welding qualification for above processes within 4 weeks
  • Understanding of NDT processes: VT, UT, MT, PT
  • Direct application of AWS and ASME Section IV codes for Tulsa preferred
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Read Tape Measure, Visual Inspection, Blueprint Reading, Maintenance on Welding Equipment
  • Provide clear, explicit verbal directions and create a positive learning environment
  • Stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders and catwalks up to 60 feet as required
  • Formal weld training from an accredited school preferred
  • Robotic or hard automation welding system experience preferred
Working Conditions:
  • Hourly schedule may change based on production needs, requires OT
  • Safety sensitive role
  • Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas, and plant grounds
  • Tolerate high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
