Job Summary
Applies knowledge of basic production procedures to fabricate, assemble, clean and repair basic routine metal, composite, mechanical and electrical products partially or completely, working at bench or on the shop floor.
Essential Functions &Key Responsibilities
- Performs routine developmental learning assignments and applies standard solutions to problems or work situations of a routine or repetitive nature. May perform a variety of routine duties related to any work operation in the repair of company and customer products as required.
- Assists in the repair, replacement, and rebuilding of aircraft operational mechanical systems, components and structures including rework and repair metallic or nonmetallic bonded parts for operational aircraft applications.
- Disassembles and inspects parts for wear, warping, or other defects. Follows written or verbal instructions to determine sequence and methods of removal and installation of parts and components of mechanical aircraft subsystems.
- Uses hand tools to remove small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts. Operates drill motors, die grinders, rivet squeeze and other like tools to assist in assembly operation.
- Assists in the lay out and marking of dimensions and reference lines on material to back drill hole patterns for access doors, installation or replacement of sheet metal parts or other like applications. Trims to fit, file, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smooths surfaces.
- Bolts, rivets, screws, clips, caulks, or bonds component parts to assemble products. Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints. Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications.
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.
Minimum Qualifications Education RequirementsOther. No formal education required. If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.
Experience Requirements0 year(s) Six (6) months of manufacturing or related experience preferred, but not required. Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, but not required.
Skills and Competencies- Uses all common hand tools used by aircraft mechanics.
- Respirator training and certification in areas where required.
- When required - Respirator training, certification and fit test and clean shaven at the respirator seal.
- Pulmonary function test is required.
Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can vary from loud to a more moderate level.
Supervision- Work is closely supervised and reviewed.
- Follows standard written or oral instructions.
- May need additional assistance for more complex tasks.
