The Receiving Inspector is responsible for receiving incoming materials, verifying shipment accuracy, and performing inspections to ensure materials meet quality and specification requirements. This role ensures all received goods are properly documented, controlled, and released for use in production in compliance with SWEP standards and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections using appropriate tools and gauges.
- Document inspection results, nonconformances, and communicate any quality concerns promptly.
- Maintain traceability and proper identification of materials throughout the receiving and inspection process.
- Maintain all measurement devices that require calibrations.
- Work with purchasing, suppliers, and quality personnel to resolve discrepancies or quality issues.
- Ensure incoming materials are stored properly or transferred to appropriate departments.
- Keep the inspection area organized, clean, and compliant with safety and quality standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and quality audits.
- Follow all safety rules, procedures, and instructions.
- Use PPE and safety equipment as required.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment, or practices to supervisors immediately.
- Participate in safety training and drills.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to minimize hazards.
- Ability to read drawings and interpret specifications.
- Familiarity with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and inspection techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast‑paced environment.
