Essential Functions

- Programs and operates a CMM(s); revises programs to maximize effectiveness and efficiency
- Investigates and collaborates with cross-functional team members to resolve manufacturing-related non-conformances or other concerns
- Initiates nonconformance records and disposition of parts not meeting requirements
- Completes First Article Inspections to AS9102 and company/contractual requirements
- Continually strives to improve inspection effectiveness and efficiency by recommending and supporting the implementation of process improvements
- Communicates effectively and professionally with internal and external personnel to identify root causes, troubleshoot and address errors and trends, and negotiate the resolution of non-conforming parts and necessary rework or reinspection
- May perform other inspections using precision measurement instruments such as mics, calipers, and gauges
- Completes other duties as required
- Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required
- Five to ten years of technical machining, programming, or similar experience, of which at least two to three years should be in quality assurance ; aerospace industry experience highly preferred
- Three years of CMM programming experience in PC-DMIS
- Knowledge of customer and industry standards and quality system requirements including AS9100, FAA requirements is desired
- Knowledge of problem-solving techniques, (i.e. Statistical Quality Control/Statistical Process-Control, etc.)
- Experience in conducting Lean Manufacturing exercises and Six Sigma projects preferred
- Demonstrated accuracy in reading and interpreting blueprints, planning and engineering documents, quality standards, customer specifications, and other technical design standards
- Advanced mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide using fractions and decimal equivalents)
- Experience accurately reading precision measuring instrumentation including mics, calipers, height gauges, tape measures, and other similar devices
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (English)
- Basic skills using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word; ERP experience is advantageous
- High school diplomas/GED required
- Four-year technical degree or equivalent education/experience preferred
- To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, including all buildings and the manufacturing areas
- Periodically lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 100 pounds using cranes or other material handling equipment and/or peer assistance
- Regularly climb steps, stairs, or ladders
- Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
- Constantly communicate verbally and in writing (English) using a phone, texts, or other messaging
- Visual acuity to accurately read mics, calipers, or other precision measuring instruments; accurately distinguish colors
Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:
- Excessive noise (hearing protection required)
- Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally)
