We are seeking an experienced Lead Foundry Worker to support daily foundry operations while providing leadership and guidance to the production team. This position performs all core foundry functions, assists the Foundry Supervisor with production coordination, and serves as the lead in the supervisor's absence.
The ideal candidate has extensive foundry experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead a team while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards.
Required Experience & SkillsHigh school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 3 years of experience in at least two foundry processes, including:
- Pattern shop/storage
- Core making
- Mold making/closing
- Induction melting
- Pouring
- Shakeout
- Abrasive blasting
- Grinding
- Casting inspection and repair
Minimum 1 year of experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and front‑end loaders.
Experience with mold making, melting, pouring, and finish room operations required.
Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Perform all standard foundry operations including core making, mold making, mold closing, sand testing, melting, pouring, shakeout, and casting cleaning.
- Remove gates, risers, fins, and perform surface repairs and abrasive blasting as required.
- Support daily operations and production planning alongside the Foundry Supervisor.
- Lead and coordinate foundry personnel during the supervisor's absence.
- Assist with scheduling, workflow, and production priorities.
- Communicate production updates with planning and management teams.
- Inspect castings for quality and perform finishing operations as needed.
- Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and front‑end loaders safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience in a foundry environment.
- Experience with production scheduling and workflow coordination.
- Strong knowledge of industrial manufacturing and casting processes.
- Experience training and mentoring production employees.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and material handling.
- Occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Ability to work around heavy industrial equipment and molten metal.
- Comfortable working in extreme temperatures and physically demanding conditions.
Industrial foundry environment. Exposure to molten metal, heat, moving equipment, overhead cranes, dust, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles. Moderate to high noise levels throughout the facility. Required PPE includes hard hat, face protection, gloves, steel‑toe boots, and additional safety equipment as required.
