2nd Shift Machinist
The 2nd Shift Machinist operates and sets up both mill and lathe equipment, including CNC machines, to produce precision components for demanding applications such as aviation and aerospace. This role works on the 2nd shift from 3:30 p.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday, ensuring parts meet strict quality and blueprint specifications while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to determine machining requirements and proper machining sequence.
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and machine settings for milling and turning operations on various materials.
- Monitor machining operations, making adjustments to feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Inspect parts using appropriate measuring tools to verify that dimensions and tolerances meet specifications.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on mill and lathe equipment, including CNC machines, to resolve minor issues and maintain productivity.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of machines and work area to support safe and efficient operations.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating mills, lathes, and CNC machinery.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality standards.
- Document work performed as required, including recording measurements, part counts, and any deviations from standard processes.
- Proven hands-on experience operating both mill and lathe machines in a production or job shop environment.
- Practical experience working with CNC machines, including basic setup and operation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements.
- Strong understanding of machining processes for both milling and turning operations.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
- Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift from 3:30 p.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience machining components for aviation or aerospace applications.
- Familiarity with both manual and CNC mill and lathe operations.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate parts.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

WorkEnvironment
This role is based in a manufacturing shop environment focused on machining components for high-performance applications, including aviation and aerospace. You will work on 2nd shift from 3:30 p.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday, operating and maintaining mills, lathes, and CNC machines. The environment involves standing for extended periods, working around running machinery, and following safety protocols such as wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
The shop is production-oriented, with a focus on meeting quality standards, maintaining equipment, and keeping the work area clean and organized.
This is a Contract position based out of Tulsa, OK.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
