- Experience with Flux Core (FCAW) and Carbon Arc Gouging
- Submerged Arc Welding (Sub Arc/SAW) experience preferred; willing to train candidates with strong Flux Core experience
- Fit-up experience with round seams or heavy steel assemblies preferred
- Ability to produce high-quality welds
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and welding symbols
- Ability to safely operate an overhead crane
- Comfortable climbing ladders and working on large fabrications
- Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and willingness to learn
We are seeking a dependable Sub Arc Welder to join our manufacturing team. This position involves fitting and welding heavy steel components using Submerged Arc Welding, Flux Core, and Carbon Arc Gouging. The majority of the work consists of fitting and welding long seams and round seams on large fabricated assemblies. Candidates with strong Flux Core experience and a desire to learn Sub Arc welding are encouraged to apply, as training is available for the right individual.
SubArc Welder
– Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform Submerged Arc (SAW), Flux Core (FCAW), and Carbon Arc Gouging on heavy steel components
- Fit and weld long seams and round seams on fabricated assemblies
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings
- Prepare materials, fit components, and verify weld quality throughout the fabrication process
- Perform weld repairs as needed
- Operate overhead cranes to safely move large materials and assemblies
- Fit and align round seams prior to welding
- Maintain production schedules while producing high-quality work
- Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy
- Follow all welding procedures and safety requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Properly use welding equipment and report maintenance concerns
- Wear required personal protective equipment at all times
- Previous Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) experience is highly preferred
- Experience fitting pressure vessels, tanks, pipe, or other heavy fabricated assemblies is highly desirable
- Recent welding school graduates with strong Flux Core skills are encouraged to apply
- Ability to pass a Flux Core and Carbon Arc welding test
- Experience welding pressure vessels, tanks, or heavy structural components is preferred
- Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to building a long-term welding career
- Up to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Four-day work week with opportunities for overtime
- Hands-on training for qualified welders looking to expand their Sub Arc welding skills
