Salary Range: $19.00 To $25.00 Hourly

Position Summary

The Production Technician manufactures advanced composite materials at SHD Composites' Tulsa facility. The position operates and supports prepreg and unidirectional production processes, follows controlled work instructions, performs in-process quality checks, and completes accurate production documentation. Selected employees may initially train on first shift before transitioning to second shift because full competency on the UD process requires structured, hands-on training.

Base Pay: $19.00–$25.00 per hour

First Shift
Monday–Friday
6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Second Shift
Monday–Friday
1:00 p.m.–9:30 p.m.
+$2.00 per hour second-shift premium

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate assigned production equipment in accordance with approved procedures, work instructions, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with equipment setup, startup, shutdown, cleaning, changeovers, and routine process adjustments.
  • Follow production schedules, work orders, run packs, formulas, bills of material, and material specifications.
  • Stage, measure, identify, and handle raw materials used in composite-material manufacturing.
  • Monitor equipment settings and process conditions to maintain safe operation and consistent product quality.
  • Perform required inspections, measurements, sampling, and in-process quality checks.
  • Complete production records, run documentation, checklists, material-usage information, and system transactions accurately and on time.
  • Label, package, move, and stage raw materials, work in process, and finished materials properly.
  • Identify and report equipment problems, material concerns, process deviations, quality issues, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Follow requirements involving PPE, chemical handling, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, emergency response, waste handling, and housekeeping.
  • Maintain clean, orderly work areas and participate in 5S and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Assist with inventory counts, material movements, shipping/receiving support, and other production needs.
  • Participate in cross-training and demonstrate competency on assigned processes before working independently.
  • Support shift handoffs by communicating production status, material issues, quality concerns, and equipment conditions.
  • Work overtime, weekends, or alternate schedules when required by customer demand and business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous manufacturing, machine-operation, production, warehouse, or industrial experience is preferred.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate production records.
  • Basic math, measurement, computer, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and workplace safety.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work effectively with production, quality, maintenance, warehouse, and site leadership.
  • Willingness and ability to complete initial training on first shift before transitioning to second shift.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in composites, aerospace, chemicals, plastics, textiles, coating, converting, or other process manufacturing.
  • Experience with prepreg, fiber handling, resin systems, laminating, coating, slitting, or roll-to-roll equipment.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems, work orders, controlled documentation, or AS9100/ISO procedures.
  • Forklift or material-handling experience, or willingness to complete company-provided training.
Physical and Work Requirements

The employee must be able to stand and walk for most of the scheduled shift; bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks; and lift or move up to 50 pounds, with assistance or material-handling equipment for heavier items.
