Position: TUL - Quality Technician 2 - 1st shift

Position

Summary

The Body Technician - Paint & Clearcoat Specialist is responsible for repairing, refinishing, and restoring painted surfaces on automotive components, with a primary focus on clearcoat repair, paint correction, surface preparation, and finish quality
. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct paint imperfections while maintaining a high-quality, consistent finish.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Inspect painted surfaces for clearcoat defects, scratches, runs, orange peel, dirt, fisheyes, and other imperfections.
  • Perform clearcoat repairs, paint correction, wet sanding, buffing, polishing, and finishing.
  • Prepare surfaces for refinishing by cleaning, sanding, masking, and performing minor body repairs as needed.
  • Match and blend paint finishes to achieve a consistent appearance.
  • Correct imperfections in painted and clear coated surfaces while minimizing rework.
  • Use polishing compounds, buffing equipment, sanders, spray equipment, and other refinishing tools properly.
  • Perform final quality inspections to ensure surfaces meet company and customer standards.
  • Maintain proper film thickness and finish quality according to specifications.
  • Identify defects and determine the appropriate repair or refinishing method.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for tools and equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations related to paint and refinishing operations.
  • Complete work accurately and efficiently while meeting production and quality requirements.
  • Communicate quality concerns, material needs, and repair issues to the appropriate supervisor.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience as an automotive body technician, paint technician, refinisher, or similar position.
  • Strong experience with clearcoat repair and paint finishing preferred.
  • Knowledge of sanding, buffing, polishing, blending, and paint correction techniques.
  • Ability to identify paint and clearcoat defects.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to safely operate automotive refinishing tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Automotive manufacturing or collision repair experience.
  • Experience working with high-volume production environments.
  • Experience with clearcoat correction, wet sanding, buffing, and polishing.
  • Knowledge of automotive paint systems and refinishing processes.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move materials and equipment as required.
  • Ability to perform repetitive sanding, polishing, and finishing activities.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respiratory and protective equipment when applicable.
