CNC Mill Operator / Machinist – Must-Have Requirements
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC vertical milling machines
  • Experience operating 3-axis CNC vertical mills
  • Fanuc control experience
  • Ability to set work offsets and tool heights
  • Experience using edge finders
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools including calipers and micrometers
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be willing to work in a safety-sensitive manufacturing environment
  • Must pass required drug and alcohol testing
CNC Mill Operator / Machinist – Position Summary

The CNC Mill Operator / Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating 3-axis vertical CNC milling machines equipped with Fanuc controls. This position requires the ability to read blueprints, understand GD&T, set work offsets and tool heights, and perform precision inspections to ensure machined components meet required specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong CNC setup and operating experience, good mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot standard machining issues independently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate 3-axis vertical CNC mills using Fanuc controls
  • Set tool heights, work offsets, and use edge finders accurately
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and job specifications
  • Apply GD&T concepts during machining and inspection
  • Perform first article inspections and in-process quality checks
  • Use calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision measuring tools
  • Verify required material certifications before machining critical specification grades
  • Identify, tag, and properly route completed parts
  • Monitor production workflow to maximize machine uptime and minimize downtime
  • Perform daily machine upkeep, cleaning, and routine preventive maintenance
  • Record job time, quantities, and production information accurately
  • Follow standard operating procedures and all shop safety requirements
  • Troubleshoot routine machining and production issues
  • Perform other shop-related duties as assigned
CNC Mill Operator / Machinist – Additional Qualifications
  • Vocational, technical school, or machining apprenticeship preferred
  • Strong understanding of shop mathematics, including fractions, decimals, proportions, geometry, and algebra
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and production requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining production schedules
  • Comfortable working around moving machinery, metal shavings, coolants, oils, and airborne particles
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently reach, bend, stoop, balance, and handle tools and materials
  • Must be able to work in a loud manufacturing environment
CNC Mill Operator / Machinist – Safety-Sensitive Position

This is a safety-sensitive position due to the operation of CNC machinery and other industrial equipment. The employer maintains a drug-free workplace policy. Employees in this position may be subject to:

  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
