Background:
Take Control Initiative (TCI) works to remove barriers and increase access to birth control in Tulsa County. TCI envisions a community in which all people have equitable access to birth control, ultimately promoting community health and economic opportunity. TCI is a fiscally sponsored organization and component fund of the Tulsa Community Foundation (TCF), collaborating with over 200 community partners, 15+ health center sites, and several state and national organizations.
TCI operates at the intersection of health and education with the underlying belief that individuals will make the best decisions for themselves when equipped with information and resources. Our team consists of three departments:
Education & Outreach, Clinical Services, and a Data & Policy organization, Metriarch.
Metriarch is a nonpartisan team of policy and women’s health experts who collaborate with state and local leaders to develop and advance innovative policies and capacity-building approaches to improve health outcomes for women in Oklahoma.
Metriarch envisions an Oklahoma where:
- Everyone recognizes that the status of women’s health is essential to all public health and economic outcomes.
- Everyone can meaningfully engage with data on their community’s health.
- Proportional attention and resources are directed toward understanding and improving women’s health across the full life course.
- Individuals, organizations, and policymakers ground decisions that impact health outcomes in reliable datasets and trustworthy research.
- The narratives surrounding women’s health are grounded in human dignity, inherent value, and essential security for women and their communities.
The Data & Policy Director is tasked with using strong strategic, analytical, policy, and communications skills to improve women’s health in Oklahoma while expanding access to policies affecting women in the state. This role will engage with partners, policymakers, government agencies, funders, other key stakeholders, and the community at large across Oklahoma. The Data & Policy Director will report to the Executive Director and will lead the Metriarch team in working across partners to strategically curate, develop, and disseminate public health and policy tools, resources, and research, ensuring alignment with Metriarch’s mission, values, and long‑term strategic goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Manage the Data & Policy team consisting of:
Senior Data & Research Analyst, Policy & Legislative Analyst, and Data & Policy Coordinator, and various interns, fellows, and volunteers (as needed). - Direct the research, analysis, communications, and advocacy surrounding women’s health policy (state and federal), ensuring Metriarch’s work is evidence-backed and executed with care and clarity.
- Facilitate a strong, consistent advocacy presence for Metriarch by leading proactive policy engagement at the local and state levels with decision makers.
- Develop messaging materials and collateral to present to and share with Metriarch partner organizations and the community at large, in collaboration with the Marketing team.
- Serve as representative and subject matter authority for Metriarch in local and regional coalitions, with policymakers, public and private sector partners, and with social justice allies.
- Provide detail-oriented project management to advance 3rd‑party contracted deliverables.
- Maintain and support the effective use of internal organizational tools (such as Hub Spot and Asana), promoting shared practices and buy‑in across the Data & Policy team.
- Lead the planning and execution of Metriarch-hosted events – including Lady Charts (biannual conference) – by working directly with internal teams and external partners to manage timelines, content, and stakeholder engagement in support of organizational goals, in collaboration with the Operations and Marketing teams.
- Provide management of Metriarch’s steering committee, as well as coalitions convened by the organization.
