Position DetailsThe assignment is a 13‑week travel role beginning 07/06/2026. The RN will work 36 hours per week on 12‑hour day shifts, providing comprehensive obstetric care in a Labor and Delivery unit. Required Qualifications- One year of recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
- STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA / ARC)
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting. Duties include assessing maternal and fetal health, administering treatments, collaborating with the clinical team, and ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centered care throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
Essential Work Functions- Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to obstetric nursing protocols
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during labor, delivery, and examinations
- Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
- Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence‑based protocols
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
- Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
- Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
- Comply with all regulatory standards, hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and proficiency in PC skills
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
- Professionalism and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary personnel
- Fine motor skills necessary for procedural assistance and equipment handling
- Ability to cope with frequent patient contact, meet deadlines under pressure, and maintain focus in fluctuating environments
