Job ResponsibilitiesUnder limited supervision of a Nursing Director/Associate or Nurse Supervisor, provides nursing care to incarcerated individuals with behavioral health conditions, including but not limited to mental health disorders and substance abuse issues. The role involves performing assessments, developing care plans, administering medications, and offering crisis intervention while maintaining safety and security within the facility.
Qualifications- A current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience as a registered nurse, preferably with a background in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing. Experience in a correctional or secure healthcare environment is highly preferred.
- Experience in assigning, reviewing, leading, or supervising the work of others (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Completion of four to eight weeks of on‑the‑job training.
- Submission to background security check, pre-employment medical examination, and drug test.
- Successful completion of the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Pre-service Training Program upon admission to the Staff Training Academy.
