Job OverviewProvider:
Telemetry Registered Nurse in a large Acute Care Hospital (Level 3 Trauma Center, Magnet) in Tulsa. The role involves caring for a highly varied adult and geriatric patient population with a focus on cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and basic critical care interventions.
- Provide advanced telemetry monitoring and rapid response for adult and geriatric patients.
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, including troubleshooting and basic arrhythmia management.
- Administer blood products, central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral IVs for patients.
- Manage cardiac drips (no titration) and high‑flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy.
- Perform basic airway management (BiPAP/CPAP, non‑invasive ventilation) and chest tube/emergency ventilator placement using Emerson/Pleur Evac systems.
- Follow and apply Heparin protocols, Basic DVT/PE prophylaxis, and isolation precautions/PPE.
- Assist in rapid response and code teams as required.
- Document patient care accurately in EPIC charting system.
- Maintain a patient ratio of 1:4 during day and night shifts; attend up to four weekend shifts per contract.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a hospital setting; 4 years experience with patient ratios.
- Board certifications: ACLS, BLS; NIHSS preferred.
- Proficiency in EPIC charting system.
- Self‑rating of 3+ on cardiac assessment and dysrhythmia management.
- Ability to work independently and float within scope as needed.
- Valid Oklahoma or Compact nursing license; local license accepted.
- Facility:
Acute Care Hospital, Magnet, Level 3 Trauma Center. - Bed capacity: 171 total; unit beds: 16.
- Daily census: 8 patients.
- Patient demographics:
Adults and Geriatrics. - Common diagnoses: CHF, stroke, orthopaedic, surgical, DKA, infections.
- Shift: Nights – 3 day × 12 hours (18:30 – 07:00).
- Guaranteed hours: 36 per week.
- Holiday RTO:
None; max 5 days of RTO during 13‑week assignment. - Travelers are not allowed block or specific scheduling requests.
- Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers.
Compliance:
Travelers must complete mandatory modules prior to the start date and are required to abide by OSUMC’s zero‑fault attendance policy. The role uses EPIC charting and requires basic dysrhythmia training. The assignment is a 13‑week contract with morning and weekend coverage as outlined.
