The ideal candidate has responsibility for instruction in the laboratory setting and clinical sites.
This is a Safety Sensitive position pursuant to Oklahoma Statute
OKLA.STAT. tit. 63, § 427.8 (2020). Marijuana, including medical marijuana, is not permitted. A background check and drug screening are part of the application process.
Essential Duties
This role facilitates student learning and growth through hands-on, experiential opportunities. Serve as a mentor for, and evaluator of, Veterinary Technology students.
Coordination and collaboration with the assigned primary Instructor.
Coordinate with and supervise Program RVT's and staff during animal care.
Provide veterinary medical services for the care of animals during the laboratory period, to include restraint / handling, examination, diagnostics & sampling, treatment & procedures, anesthesia & surgery, and any other care per course requirements. Specific duties include those pertinent to the particular course and animal species.
Documentation of veterinary care for all patients.
Assist management of in-house animal patients, field trips, and other experiential opportunities for student learning.
Assist with animal procurement.
Participate with Program accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine required, from an AVMA-accredited institution.
Hold a valid, unencumbered license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Oklahoma.
Hold a valid, unencumbered registration from DEA and OBN (Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics).
Evidence of current practice with a minimum of three years full-time equivalent as a veterinarian in a clinical setting.
Philosophy compatible with that of a comprehensive urban community college.
Competencies:
Effective interpersonal and team building skills; effective communication skills including verbal and written.
Complete required trainings by TCC and School of Health Sciences.
Compliance with SOHS requirements (HR onboarding, vaccinations/tests, annual compliance exam).
