Quality Engineer
Under the guidance of the Quality Assurance Manager, plans and executes cost‑effective quality programs that ensure contractual compliance and maintain product integrity.
Job SummarySupport quality for current and future manufacturing requirements and determine the most effective methods to improve productivity through the management of people and technology.
Responsibilities- Ensure that all contractual and regulatory quality requirements are defined and communicated on assigned customers and programs.
- Support all departments to ensure control of receiving, in‑process and final quality of product.
- Recommend more efficient and quality‑oriented processes.
- Provide customer interface on quality issues and problem resolution.
- Collaborate with sales, purchasing, production, quoting and contract management to establish quality procedures for meeting customer requirements.
- Interface with suppliers to correct problems with purchased materials.
- Provide support to manufacturing, including root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions to resolve problems in product manufactured.
- Assist in defining and monitoring the quality management system and in developing an organizational culture that stresses quality processes.
- Assist in monitoring personnel and processes to ensure compliance with company guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Update area supervision regarding concerns.
- Participate in root cause and corrective action investigation efforts, resulting from MRB activity.
- Assist plant personnel in maintaining the Quality Systems Registration, and highlight areas for continuous improvement.
- Participate in internal audit programs.
- Inspect product when/if there is a need and requested by the Quality Manager.
- Analyze, review and prepare necessary reports/data summaries, as required.
- Adhere to general team member requirements.
- Comply with quality systems (ISO 9001, AS 9100, NADCAP) and Aerospace OEM requirements.
- Support submission of tags to customers and close out rejection reports.
- Handle and manage hazardous waste generated in the work area.
- Under direct supervision, incumbents will be assigned to established or new programs with limited technical complexity.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager.
Skills & Qualifications
- Five S, Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, SPC and ISO 9001 / AS 9100 and Aerospace OEM Specifications and Drawings.
- Strong analytical and communication skills for internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Good memory for detail.
- Conscientious, organized and meticulous – records must be accurate and maintained.
- Read and understand internal procedures and policies.
- Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
- Bachelor of Science or four‑year technical degree required.
- Up to three (3) years technical experience, preferably in aerospace or automotive industry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use measuring equipment, and ability to work on multiple projects at the same time without supervision.
- Good math skills, familiarity with personal computer, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Internet, and MRP system preferred.
