About This Group

The Technician is a part of the Quality Assurance team which ensures that products are up to standard before delivering the product to the customer.

About the Role

In a team oriented environment, performs all laboratory testing in a timely and efficient manner to ensure aircraft material, parts and components are compliant with type design data.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Performs laboratory tests and determines product acceptability in accordance with prescribed methods and procedures.
2. Records, organizes and evaluates test results and generate Lab reports.
3. Ensures compliance to all safety rules and regulations and provides protection to self and others during testing.
4. Maintains equipment and assures calibration prior to performance of tests.
5. Maintains inventory control of area equipment.
6. Works with and assists other lab Technicians as required.
7. Proficient in data input for Microsoft Access, Solumina, and SAP. Ensures all measurement and test equipment utilized is accurate and calibrated to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards.
Additional Functions: QA Materials and Process Lab 1. Perform mechanical tests such as tensile, compression, flexure, flatwise tension, peel, etc. utilizing a hydraulic or electromechanical universal test machine.
2. Perform physical tests such as burn-off, flow, gel time, and digestion using scales, ovens, and presses.
3. Machine sample coupons using grinders, saws and cutoff wheels..
4. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ensures all measurement and test equipment utilized is accurate and calibrated to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards.
  • Develops procedures ensuring FAA, Gulfstream, manufacturer and industry requirements are met.
  • Works with customers to solve complex technical or logistical problems.
  • Able to work with little or no supervision.

Perform other duties as assigned.

This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. 6 years technically related experience to include three (3) years laboratory testing experience. Proficient in blueprint reading/interpretation, shop mathematics, and QA System requirements. ASQ certificate (American Society for Quality) Upon Hire preferred.
