Stephenson Cancer Center (Oklahoma’s only National Cancer Institute–Designated Cancer Center) is now hiring a Staff Research Assistant for the Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) in Tulsa. The role is the first point of contact for participants in multiple ongoing NIH‑funded and pilot randomized controlled trials focused on health behavior change, including smoking cessation, alcohol use reduction, and marijuana use reduction. The position offers ample opportunities for research publication and collaborative work.
Duties- bTHIS IS NOT A BIOMEDICAL/BENCH SCIENCE LAB POSITION.
- Participate in clinical research projects by collecting data from patients and/or participants.
- Complete informed consent procedures with study participants.
- Collect various forms of data, including in‑person questionnaires, smartphone‑based questionnaires, and database information.
- Conduct data analyses, interpret results, draw conclusions, and discuss findings with the principal investigator.
- Maintain detailed logs of all research‑related projects and activities.
- Conduct literature searches.
- Prepare descriptive, analytical, and evaluative reports for publication.
- Assist in constructing tests or contribute to test construction.
- Collaborate with other researchers or colleagues.
- Participate in meetings and present research findings to fellow researchers and the principal investigator.
- Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
- bBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, or other healthcare field.
- Knowledge and experience in research methods, including clinical trial data procedures and IRB processes.
- Unpaid or paid experience working in a behavioral research lab.
- Experience working with Native American participants and/or knowledge of Native American culture.
- bBachelor's Degree in a Biological Science, Chemistry, or Physical Science or related field.
- 12 months research laboratory experience.
- Working knowledge of handling and disposing of biohazardous materials or chemicals following Federal, State, and University regulations and guidelines.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to analyze data and keep records.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity/experience with Native American culture.
- Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Human psychophysiology laboratory environment.
- Willing to work weekends.
- Must have good interpersonal skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Computer skills.
