Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the employee is responsible for screening all people entering the courthouse complex, using screening equipment, monitoring people as they enter or exit, providing assistance to the public as needed, and responding appropriately to possible threats to security and safety of the courthouse complex.
- Monitor screening equipment.
- Conduct daily test of screening equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Greets public and provides information.
- Recognize and react to possible threats to safety and security of the complex.
- Search packages and other items brought to checkpoints.
- Complete appropriate reports of actions and threats.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Skill in:
Exercising tact, patience and courtesy in dealing with others. - Knowledge of: 800 radio system, 10 codes, security techniques, basic computer functions.
- Abilities:
Learn department policies and procedures, learn division operations procedures, learn regulations pertaining to the Courthouse Complex, gain respect and cooperation of others, keep alert and vigilant, exercise initiative and independent judgement, maintain confidentiality, understand and follow oral and written instructions. - Work all shifts: days, evenings, midnights, weekends, and all holidays.
- Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). - Certificates, licenses, registrations:
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
The employee is regularly required to stand, balance, walk, use hands to finger, handle, grip, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and may need to taste and smell three odors associated with danger. The employee is occasionally required to sit, run, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds, and push, pull or move up to 100 pounds.
Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to perform duties while wearing gear weighing 10 pounds or more for extended periods of time.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
