Key Responsibilities
  • Identify vulnerabilities and conduct root‑cause analysis using data to define mitigating actions while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Actively monitor and report outcomes for systems and tools that generate data indicating site/region opportunities.
  • Manage confidential investigations and prepare prompt reports of theft, fraud, and workplace violence/critical incidents.
  • Utilize continuous improvement to drive process enhancements and increase efficiency.
  • Serve as the department’s liaison and security/crisis‑management subject‑matter expert, keeping site leadership informed on key issues, strategies, and performance.
  • Identify, promote, and implement security best practices while effectively partnering with internal customers to evaluate current and future security needs, processes, and initiatives, including incident response planning and facilitation.
  • Travel domestically, up to 50% of the time when applicable.
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach; stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts; work in environments with variable noise, temperature, and weather, and continuously climb and descend stairs where applicable.
  • Cover 24/7 operations and be able to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
A Day in the Life

As an SLP Expert, you will join a team of S&LP professionals providing security as a service to business customers across multiple units within a dedicated geographical area. You will perform regular physical security audits, investigate policy violations, security‑related incidents, and loss events; collect information through monitoring systems, data reports, and interviews; and contribute findings to identify vulnerabilities and drive mitigating measures.

You will maintain the physical integrity of our sites by auditing and monitoring system health, collaborating with subject‑matter experts and external suppliers to sustain functionality, and identifying initiatives to improve our physical security infrastructure. You will also collaborate on high‑impact initiatives and projects with stakeholders across organizational levels, deliver loss prevention‑related education and awareness programs to teams at all management levels, and manage implementation of our S&LP plan.

Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) is the global organization that supports field Loss Prevention and is designed to support Amazon’s Worldwide Operations, affiliate and retail businesses through policy and implementation guidelines; leadership and staff training; technology to eliminate subjectivity, complexity, and variation; risk identification, preparation, and mitigation; and compliance auditing.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 4+ years of relevant professional or military experience.
  • 2+ years of security service, loss prevention, asset protection, investigations, or law enforcement experience, or 2+ years of Amazon (Blue Badge/FTE) experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience implementing metric‑based strategies utilizing continuous improvement concepts.
  • Experience with physical security systems maintenance/implementation and coordinating scope of work with security vendors.
  • 2+ years of operational experience in risk management, audit, data analytics, inventory control, quality assurance, retail, warehouse, distribution center services, delivery service, or supply chain.
  • Investigative interviewing experience and relevant certifications such as Wicklander and Zulawski, Loss Prevention Qualified, Certified Protection Professional, Loss Prevention Certified, Certified Forensic Interviewer, or Certified Threat Assessment.
  • Workplace incident mitigation or de‑escalation and business continuity planning experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel pivot tables and development of charts/graphics.
