Security Supervisor supervises and provides daily operational guidance to security staff, including establishing daily/weekly schedules, training new security officers, verifying accuracy of time sheets, and communicating relevant information across the system.

This is a safety sensitive position.

Location

Central Library - 400 Civic Center Tulsa, OK. 74103, and Multiple Tulsa City-County Library locations.

Schedule

Monday
- Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Flexibility required with evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary

$4,717.00/month.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Leads a team of Security Officers – both TCCL employees and contracted guards – to provide adequate coverage to scheduled branches; will step in and cover shifts as necessary.
  • Interviews, trains, disciplines, and evaluates TCCL staff as necessary.
  • Assists in establishing and monitoring roles, metrics, and performance objectives for security officers.
  • Conducts a variety of departmental training to meet and comply with TCCL customer service standards and CLEET requirements.
  • Conducts regular patrols throughout the system and monitors security cameras providing requested footage as needed.
  • Enforces all TCCL rules and regulations, and serves as primary trainer and subject matter expert for new and contracted officers.
  • Ensures all documentation related to departmental CLEET certification is archived and updated timely to avoid lapse in staff licensing.
  • Takes appropriate action to ensure the safety and security of Library staff, customers, guests, and property. Responds timely to calls for assistance from staff and/or customers, especially in unusual or emergency situations.
  • Completes daily/weekly/monthly activity reports to ensure department communication and continuity is achieved.
  • Maintains order and control during emergency situations; works with local law enforcement and/or other first responders as needed.
  • Explains rules and policies to customers and solicits customer cooperation and compliance; communicates with customers who fail to comply with Library rules and policies.
  • Reviews daily incident reports, inputting information as necessary into relevant database and updating suspension information.
  • Prepares incident reports and debriefs staff on security incidents and issues.
  • Creates and distributes security alerts to the system, including current suspensions.
  • Maintains proficient understanding of how to operate assigned protective equipment and life saving devices.
  • Actively supports TCCL’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion efforts, and the Library’s Be All In culture.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required plus two or more years of security experience in a public setting.
  • CLEET Certification required.
  • A valid Oklahoma driver’s license is required.
  • Bilingual English
    - Spanish preferred.
  • College-level coursework in a related field preferred.
  • One year of supervisory experience required.

Activity & Environmental Conditions

Requires occasional stooping or bending; occasional light lifting (up to 20 pounds) may be required; frequent use of office equipment as well as long periods of sitting, standing, or walking as needed. Occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal temperature and air conditions; may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, such as working in a confined area for long periods of time, dealing with angry or unruly customers, occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of video display terminals.

Routine, in-town travel with occasional out-of-town trips. Reliable transportation is required.
