Cox Automotive – USA. Job Profile:
Mobile Diesel Technician II, Vehicle Operations. Individual Contributor with flexible work options (remote possible but must live in the specified city, state, or region). Travel: 100% of the time.

Day. Compensation:
Hourly base pay rate $26.73 – $40.10/hour. The hourly base rate may vary by location and candidate qualifications. Position may be eligible for additional compensation such as commissions or incentive programs.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical, braking, cooling, starters/alternators, engine electronics, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.).
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various systems (electrical, braking, air conditioning, engine electronics, etc.).
- Inspect, test, and listen to equipment using test instruments; road test vehicles to verify repairs.
- Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate solutions with sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory and use company-issued service truck equipment; conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Coordinate with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks with prioritized work and time allocations.
- Document work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using company-issued iOS devices and TRAIT application.
- Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work independently and maintain a high level of productivity within standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs.
- Communicate with management to obtain approvals on repair estimates and related paperwork.
- Ensure work complies with safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Maintain company service truck and perform daily safety inspections.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience; or 5 years in a related field.
- Possess and provide a set of hand tools necessary to perform duties.
- Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Must pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical; or provide valid DOT medical card with differing expiration as allowed.
- Must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license; able to obtain and maintain Driver Qualification File.
- Required certifications: ASE T8 (PMI) at minimum; preferred ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, and T8/609.
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk; perform moderately heavy labor; sustain physical effort over long periods.
- Effective two-way communication; concise and organized information sharing.
- Ability to select appropriate tools and equipment; use logic to evaluate solutions.
