We are seeking a Unified Communications Technician to join an IT Department team. This junior-level role is responsible for assisting with the deployment, expansion, and management of fiber optic and network systems that power enterprise-wide communications. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled technician who can take on complex projects, resolve advanced technical issues, and ensure the security and reliability of communications infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the planning, execution, and oversight of fiber-optic installations, upgrades, and repairs
- Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting on telecom, network, and wireless systems
- Maintain telecom equipment, inventory, tools, and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance
- Create and maintain accurate technical documentation and reporting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support communications initiatives
- Drive adherence to safety standards and best practices in all technical operations
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of relevant telecommunications or networking experience
- Strong working knowledge of fiber‑optic technology, enterprise infrastructure, and networking hardware
- Hands‑on experience with fiber‑optic tools, testing equipment, splicing, and terminations
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- Safety‑conscious, proactive, and adaptable to evolving technologies
- BICSI Installer 2 (INSTF) certification (preferred, not required)
- Additional relevant certifications, degrees, or technical coursework
