The Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Heavily relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Mobile Diesel Technician I/II, this role is considered the Lead on job sites by customers and technicians, acting as a consultant on the customer’s behalf.

A successful Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician complies with all company policies and achieves high‑level performance metrics.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance ("PM"), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation.
  • Identify problems, determine relevance and accuracy of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen to clients and customers to assess needs and provide assistance or resolve problems.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work and allocating time effectively.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards, uploading pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders ("RO") via the proprietary TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Work independently and manage own daily schedule.
  • Maintain high productivity and work within or close to standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
  • Communicate with management and support via email or phone for repair estimate approvals, purchase order numbers, or RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Maintain the company‑issued service truck and conduct daily pre/post‑trip inspections.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience in a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
  • OEM training and certifications are preferred.
  • ASE L2 preferred but not required.
  • Participate in and complete all company‑required training.
  • The position follows DOT FMCSA regulations; candidates must pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
