Position: Maintenance Technician I

Job Summary

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of the facility, including its infrastructure, machinery, and equipment. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and making necessary repairs to ensure the facility's optimal functioning.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify and address maintenance issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as system checks, plumbing repairs, and electrical system inspections.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, including pumps, motors, generators, and other machinery.
  • Co‑ordinate with external vendors for specialized equipment repairs.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and resolve urgent problems to ensure the safety and functionality of the facility.
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Perform basic carpentry work, including repairing doors, windows, and walls.
  • Address building maintenance issues such as leaks, structural damage, or general wear and tear.
  • Maintain the exterior of the facility, including landscaping, snow removal, and parking lot maintenance.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Participate in safety training programs and promote a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, management, and external contractors.
  • Report on the status of maintenance activities and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED).
  • Certification in a skilled maintenance trade (e.g., Electrical, Millwright, Plumber/Pipefitter, HVAC, Welder, Sheet Metal).
  • Minimum of one year experience in industrial maintenance, facility maintenance, or construction.
  • Preferred qualifications include current material handling certification, Lock Out/Tag Out, Lifting & Rigging, preventive or predictive maintenance, or any journeyman/trades licensing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and preventive maintenance software.
  • Working knowledge of equipment controls and NESC, UL/ETL (including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
  • Ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate with others.
Work Environment

Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand/walk for up to 95% of the normal work shift. Ability to work in, on top of, and around industrial equipment. Ability to work on lifts uired to wear proper personal protective equipment. Ability to work in manufacturing facilities and regularly be exposed to varying and extreme temperatures, loud noises, dust, chemical fumes, sharp metal objects, and heavy forklift traffic.
