JobOverview
The Field Service Technician for Ingersoll Rand's Compression Systems and Services Division serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all makes of rotary screw and reciprocating and/or Centac and ECC air compressors, along with additional compressed air system components. You will use precision measuring tools for diagnostic troubleshooting of compressed air equipment and must have knowledge of all operations and parts manuals associated with all equipment.
Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance on Ingersoll Rand compressed air equipment.
- Interact with customers to address existing and unanticipated equipment concerns.
- Collaborate with Service Coordinator on ordering and gathering parts and supplies necessary to complete installations and repairs.
- Assist and train apprentices and Field Service Technicians.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and co-workers.
- Provide technical assistance on equipment pre‑commissioning and start‑ups, installations, and repairs of compressed air systems, including hands‑on work to assure equipment operates to customer’s requirement with limited guidance from the Master Technician.
- Increase Ingersoll Rand customers’ awareness of how Ingersoll Rand products, services, and solutions (e.g., Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits, Leak Detection) can benefit their operations.
- 2+ years experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
- Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations (including no DUI in the previous 5 years and no unsafe driving incidents in the previous 3 years).
- Service technicians must be on‑call; the first 90 days are off‑call to acclimate to the schedule.
- Position is highly physical, requiring regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling, and the ability to lift and move weight in accordance with safety policy.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanic’s set of tools (specialty tools provided by the company).
- Read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
- Advanced network systems installations (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation).
- Basic vibration troubleshooting.
- Basic air quality assessment for system compressors and dryers.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and other basic computer usage; proficiency with handheld computer (smartphone, iPad) and network basics.
- Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost‑efficient manner.
- Industrial air compressor maintenance & knowledge.
- EPA Certification.
- Veterans/Active‑Duty Military encouraged to apply.
Service Technicians will travel daily within a 3‑hour radius of assigned service area. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
Pay RangeStarting pay will range between $25.00 - $40.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full‑time, hourly position.
