Job Summary The Plumbing Apprentice assists licensed plumbers with the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and light commercial plumbing systems. This position provides hands-on training while developing the technical skills and knowledge necessary to become a licensed plumber.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist licensed plumbers with plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance.
Learn to install and repair water lines, drain lines, sewer lines, gas lines, water heaters, and plumbing fixtures.
Gather tools, materials, and equipment needed for each job.
Load, unload, and organize materials and supplies.
Dig trenches and prepare job sites as needed.
Assist with plumbing remodels and new construction projects.
Maintain clean and organized work areas before, during, and after each job.
Learn and follow local plumbing codes and company installation standards.
Communicate professionally with customers while representing the company.
Complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently under the direction of a licensed plumber.
Properly care for company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous construction, plumbing, or mechanical experience is preferred but not required.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
Ability to follow instructions and work well with others.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and dependable attendance.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
Ability to work in crawl spaces, attics, trenches, and confined spaces.
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and plumbing equipment.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights when necessary.
Visual ability to inspect plumbing systems and identify issues.
Ability to work extended hours or occasional weekends as business demands require.
Preferred Qualifications Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a plumbing apprenticeship program.
Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
Previous experience in construction, maintenance, or skilled trades.
Desire to obtain a Journeyman Plumbing License.
