Role Description

The HVAC Journeyman is a full-time, on-site role based in the Tulsa Metropolitan Area, responsible for maintaining reliable, safe, and efficient building systems across the museum facilities. Day-to-day tasks include installing, inspecting, repairing, and servicing HVAC equipment, as well as performing routine and preventive maintenance to support stable temperature and humidity levels for collection preservation and visitor comfort. The role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues, coordinating with other maintenance staff and contractors, and responding to service requests in a timely, professional manner.

The HVAC Journeyman will also complete work orders and documentation, follow safety and regulatory standards, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to minimize disruption to museum operations.

Qualifications
  • Strong HVAC skills, including installation, repair, and system maintenance.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and control issues in building systems.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance practices for HVAC and related equipment.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing fundamentals for facility support.
  • Ability to provide professional, responsive customer service to staff and visitors.
  • Relevant trade school training or technical certification in HVAC or building systems.
  • Current journeyman-level license or equivalent credential, as required by local regulations.
  • Awareness of safety codes, OSHA guidelines, and best practices for museum or institutional environments.
  • Ability to work on-site, lift and carry equipment, and perform tasks that may require standing, bending, and climbing ladders.
  • Reliable communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
