Position: Empower Parent Advocate - Transition to School Project

Location: Lilyfield Tulsa - Tulsa, OK 74106

Overview

This position provides services for two unique Lilyfield programs:
Empower Youth and Empower Parents. The role will devote approximately 30% time to Empower Youth and 70% to Empower Parents. It will provide direct services to families as their children transition into school in grades Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, supporting the needs of both parent or caregiver and the child, and ensuring compliance with the Transition Family Pilot grant. The role also offers direct, individualized and/or group services, recruits participants for Youth Club groups, and supports families in after school and summer programming.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct group and individual sessions for the programs
  • Promote the transition to school program to recruit new clients
  • Complete developmental assessments for every child enrolled in the transition to school program
  • Assist caregivers in:
    • Seeking additional supports for themselves or their children as they transition to school
    • Exploring appropriate school options and enrolling in school
    • Participating in IEP services as required
    • Identifying gaps in services needed for the child to be successful in school
    • Navigating systems
    • Understanding secure attachments and appropriate child development milestones
  • Recruit participants in the community through strong relationships with schools, early childhood centers, Tulsa Housing Authority, and other resources
  • Provide positive connections with families
  • Support the larger Empower Parent and Empower Youth Programs by filling in as a facilitator or supporting groups for other team members as needed
  • Create and implement life skills curriculum for Youth Club (social/emotional skills, relationship skills, and tangible skills for daily living)
  • Travel to and from locations where families live for education and support
  • Manage and maintain case files per agency policy
  • Complete client assessments, group rosters and consent/intake forms
  • Maintain and cultivate partnerships between community resources and Lilyfield
  • Identify needs in the target community and create solutions to meet those needs
  • Maintain awareness of other service providers
  • Assist in collecting data from participants during sessions
  • Conduct marketing and PR activities for the agency
  • Drive and travel between service locations as required
  • Other tasks as assigned
Education & Training
  • Bachelor’s level degree in social work, psychology, or a human services related area of study; or a high school diploma with two years of work experience and/or lived experience in the community served.

  • Willingness to agree to and abide by all policies and procedures including P213 Code of Ethical and Christian Conduct and OP412 Faith Engagement
  • Experience with contracts, grants, or agreements with specific funding requirements
  • Knowledge of resources available to families
  • Ability to engage community partners
  • Provide group and individual services
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with parents and/or youth
  • Demonstrated competence in assessment and evaluation of youth and families
  • Ability to use discretion with sensitive or confidential information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to schedule and multitask
  • Good problem‑solving skills
  • Meet licensing requirements regarding criminal background check
  • Physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license required
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Experience
  • At least three years of work experience with children and families or in any field with relevant lived experience in the community served.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit on the floor, bend, and be at ground level with families and children.
