Software Engineer
Location & Travel: Oklahoma City, OK – 10% Travel required.
Clearance: Secret clearance required at start; ability to obtain or maintain Top Secret and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Role OverviewNorthrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Sr. Principal Software Engineer to support the Aeronautics Systems sector. The candidate will lead the development and operation of a large‑scale software factory, ensuring sustainable, secure, and high‑quality software delivery for flight, mission, lab, and tools systems.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and stand up a large‑scale software factory used by multiple engineering teams.
- Implement and maintain a Dev Sec Ops lifecycle, including continuous build, integration, testing, cyber, and deployment pipelines.
- Contribute to software engineering initiatives across sustainment and modernization programs with design, development, testing, integration, and Dev Ops expertise.
- Use a variety of software languages, technologies, and industry best practices to support all phases of the development life cycle for flight, mission, lab, and tools software.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of software engineering experience, OR Master’s degree and 6 years of experience, OR PhD and 4 years of experience.
- Experience with at least one object‑oriented programming language (Java, JavaScript, C++, C#, Python, Swift). Knowledge of the software development life cycle.
- Experience with a change management tracking system (Jira, Clear Quest, Asana).
- Experience with a configuration management system (Git, Git Lab, Git Hub, Bitbucket, Subversion).
- Active DoD Secret clearance or Top Secret (in‑scope) with ability to obtain or maintain special program access (PAR).
- Experience with cloud technology (AWS, VMWare, Azure, Kubernetes).
- Experience developing software using agile processes (Kanban, Scrum, Scrumban).
- Knowledge of software metrics and configuration of virtual machines, virtual networks (VPC, NSX‑T, NSX‑V).
- Experience with static and dynamic code analysis.
- Experience operating cyber remediation and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Certifications from VMware, AWS, or Cisco.
- Active Secret DoD clearance with ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance.
- Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Primary Level salary range: $116,300 – $174,500
. Base salary is determined by position scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and, for senior positions, Long Term Incentives. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, and paid holidays/PTO.
