Haul Truck Driver; Heavy Civil Construction

Position Overview

Off Road Haul Truck Drivers are responsible for hauling and dumping materials using hand or mechanical loaders, performing vehicle inspections, ensuring cargo safety, following safety policies, communicating with operators, and operating the truck under challenging conditions.

• Load truck by hand or operate mechanical loader.
• Pull levers or turn crank to tilt body and dump contents.
• Perform inspections of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights, turn signals and brakes.
• Ensure cargo is properly loaded according to safety requirements.
• Follow all safety policies, procedures and legislation, and observe applicable traffic laws.
• Communicate with other Haul Truck Drivers and equipment operators using communication devices such as a two‑way radio or onboard computers.
• Move hand and foot controls to jerk truck forward and backward to loosen and dump material adhering to the body.

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of haul truck driving experience or minimum of 2 years of training with at least 6 months of equivalent work experience.
• Must have 1+ year maintaining log books.
• Willing to perform labor work.
• Ability to work safely under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment.
