Material Handler

The Material Handler is responsible for filling customer orders, delivering them to the delivery platform, and loading product onto trailers in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security and productivity.

The below is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organization and the overall business objectives of the organization.

• Receives pick tickets from the warehouse coordinator and reads order number, size, color and quantity of merchandise.
• Obtains merchandise from bins or shelves.
• Picks customer orders for shipment ensuring that the correct number and product type is loaded and shipped.
• Carries or transports orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms with material handling equipment ensuring orders are staged in order of delivery.
• Maintains material handling equipment by noting and reporting any damage or malfunction.
• May assist in placing incoming items in inventory.
• May conduct physical inventories as required.
• Adheres to departmental safety and security standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Inform your line manager about any shortcomings you identify within your health and safety arrangements.

• Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Physically capable of performing all duties and responsibilities assigned.
• Physically capable of standing and/or walking continuously for long periods of time if necessary.
• Physically capable of climbing, balancing, bending/stooping, and kneeling continuously.

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• 2 years previous warehouse‑related work experience, preferred

• Strong problem‑solving skills
• Excellent decision‑making and conflict resolution skills
• Highly organized and detail‑oriented
• Proficient written and oral communication skills
• Comfortable kneeling, carrying, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods of time
• Ability to perform continuous physical exertion as needed
