3. Within the Insurance Services Claims Administration program, this Office Assistant 3 position assists supervisors and workers' compensation adjudicators by providing excellent customer service in timely processing of work items by performing complex clerical support. Training for this position is conducted in‑person, hybrid options available once successful. This position contributes to the state’s economic well‑being by assisting agency staff in providing workers' benefits to which they are entitled.
- Create phone referrals by transcribing voicemail messages, accurately capture the caller’s information, and apply information from computer programs, resource manuals, Washington Administrative Codes (WACs), Revised Code of Washington (RCWs) and documents submitted by customers to the processing of work items.
- Sort mail and distribute it to the appropriate area for further processing and/or prepare for mailing.
- Perform various claim support duties as needed, including but not limited to, typing letters and correspondence, accurately and free from errors.
- Transfer and communicate with other program areas to resolve identified issues.
- Navigate through multiple computer programs while inputting data quickly.
- Work in a strong team atmosphere, share information, and utilize your group to solve problems.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with applicable statutes and agency policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Two years of clerical or customer service experience assisting clients/customers.
- Ability to access and move between multiple computer programs; databases, word processing.
- Basic skill level (Level
1) using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. - Ability to type 40 words per minute, accounting for errors, with a 5‑minute typing assessment.

Teleworking is one of the work schedule options for this position. L&I also offers flexible custom work schedules. This position is flexible/hybrid and requires at least three days in the office after a full time 10‑to‑12 weeks in office training. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, Washington. For positions where in‑office work is necessary, the frequency of telework will be discussed with the supervisor of the position at the time of offer.
