The Estimator role at QEC is a full-time, on-site position based in Tumwater, WA. The Estimator is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, performing detailed quantity take-offs, and preparing accurate cost estimates for PEMB's , architectural paneling, miscellaneous metals and structural steel. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing bids, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes, and collaborating with project managers and field supervisors to align estimates with construction means and methods.
The Estimator will develop and maintain pricing databases, support budgeting and value-engineering efforts, and assist with proposal preparation and bid presentations.
- Strong skills in construction estimating, quantity take-offs, and cost analysis for steel procurement and installations.
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital take-off tools; solid general computer and MS Office and Bluebeam skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and fabrication drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes relevant to steel structures and metal building systems.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy under deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with project teams, vendors, and clients.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids and priorities simultaneously.
- Prior experience in commercial or industrial construction estimating; experience with PEMB or structural steel is highly beneficial.
