Job Overview
Position:
Management Analyst 5 – Tumwater, WA. The Department of Revenue’s Business and Financial Services (B&FS) Division is looking for a Management Analyst in a close‑knit team that thrives in a fast‑paced environment, adapts to fluctuating workloads, and works toward common objectives.
- Coordinate and complete complex analytical projects, including reviewing and analyzing revenue and receivables transactions reported to the statewide accounting system (AFRS), identifying anomalies, performing assessments, and consulting with the B&FS Management Team on complex financial issues. This information is used by the Office of Financial Management (OFM) to prepare the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), which is audited each year by the State Auditor’s Office (SAO).
- Collaborate with all sections within the B&FS Division to provide oversight and coordination of internal control testing and review, ensuring accuracy of financial transactions reported to AFRS and the Office of the State Treasurer (OST).
- Serve as a supervisor, providing training and guidance to two Management Analysts 4.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing, with experience preparing professional documents, reports, and correspondence.
- Proven ability to research and analyze subjects, draw conclusions, and develop plans of action.
- Strong verbal communication skills, appropriate to varied audiences.
- Experience planning, developing, and delivering presentations for broad audiences.
- Knowledge and skill in reviewing documents for correctness and compliance with tax law or similar regulatory requirements.
- Ability to organize multiple assignments, including complex or competing priorities, into accurate and timely work products.
- Capability to handle highly stressful or adverse situations, maintain accuracy, and support others.
- Experience researching and analyzing financial data and presenting analysis using tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
- Knowledge of financial internal controls.
- Personal responsibility for quality and timeliness of work, meeting deadlines and commitments.
- Ability to earn trust, respect, and confidence of co‑workers and customers through honesty, professionalism, and transparent communication.
- Experience communicating across a broad spectrum of personnel and managerial levels and maintaining relationships with external units or partners.
