Important:
Bilingual applicants must pass an assessment of Spanish fluency. Successful bilingual employees receive a 5% pay increase.
- Translate English language letters, orders, and documents into Spanish for submission to the Limited English Proficiency Manager with Insurance Services.
- Monitor workflow progress through the translation and stakeholder process to publication.
- Maintain a master file of completed translated documents for use by bilingual staff and make them available through the Claims Esl Spanish program and the L: drive.
- Proofread written translations from bilingual Customer Service Specialists, Support Supervisors, Claims Processors, Office Assistants, and Apprentices. Provide feedback to supervisors using proficiency forms.
- Provide random quality assurance of translations completed by bilingual staff released from work, checking for accuracy and completeness.
- Help develop and maintain translation standards used when checking bilingual staff.
- Translate Agency documents or materials from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
- Make recommendations for process improvements.
- Answer incoming phone calls on Spanish/English lines presented by an automated call distribution system in a professional and courteous manner to both internal and external customers.
- Resolve customer questions and concerns through review of claim file information.
- Translate Spanish letters into English and attach to the claim file.
- Translate medical terms and monitor the Word Processing mailbox throughout the day to ensure term requests are completed on time and with accuracy by staff, moving them to the completed folder.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, or a related field.
- OR four years of experience writing/editing.
- OR a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Must be able to read, write, translate, and converse fluently in both Spanish and English. Top candidates must pass an oral and written exam.
- Must demonstrate initiative to learn and grow and to meet the needs of others.
- High school diploma or GED with formal instruction/education in Spanish. Translator or interpreter certification a plus.
- Four years of experience in communications and translation work.
- Strong non-verbal, verbal, and written communication skills in English and Spanish.

Work LocationTelework is not permitted. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, Washington.
