Purpose StatementThe job of ELP
- Outreach / Recruitment Specialist is done for the purpose/s of
1) fluently interpreting and translating between English and Spanish for assigned centers, families, and community members;
2) providing community outreach and engagement in Early Learning;
3) modeling translating and interpreting best practices, and
4) creating and delivering language access professional development opportunities for Early Learning staff.

This job reports to ELP
- Director of Early Learning
Community Relationship Development Develops relationships with community organizations, provides community outreach and engagement, and serves as a community liaison for the purpose of strengthening partnerships between Spanish-speaking communities and the ESD 113.
Language Access Professional Development Develops and delivers language access professional development opportunities for the purpose of increasing the effectiveness of Early Learning and ESD 113 staff who translate and interpret.
Language Access Service Growth Identifies opportunities to grow the language access service line for the purpose of creating a more collaborative environment across ESD 113's region.
Meeting Interpretation Interprets information during meetings (e.g. parent/teacher conferences, IEP meetings, behavior support plan meetings, board meetings, policy council, and medical emergencies, etc.) for the purpose of creating a more collaborative environment.
Publication Management Manages assigned publications for the purpose of developing content, writing, and producing high-quality and accurate products in a timely manner.
Schedule Management Manages multiple schedules across the Early Learning department for the purpose of providing information and support, ensuring availability, and delivering established services.
Meeting and Workshop Participation Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and receiving information to develop or enhance skills.
Trusting Relationship Building Provides a trusting relationship where students and families can share their thoughts, aspirations, concerns, and interests related to district engagement for the purpose of program engagement.
Translation and Interpretation Software Research Researches, recommends, and develops a quality assurance process for the use of computer-assisted interpreting and translation software tools for the purpose of more efficiently responding to language access requests.
Staff Training and Coaching Trains and coaches Early Learning staff who are engaged in translating and interpreting for the purpose of effective language access practices.
Communication Translation Translates various Early Learning communications (e.g. Family Handbook, school closure announcements, assessment data), etc.) for the purpose of increasing access for Spanish-speaking families and community members to critical school communications and ESD programs.
Travel Requirements Travels between ESD 113, Early Learning sites, and other locations as needed for the purpose of completing the essential functions of the job.
Confidentiality Upholds confidentiality for the purpose of maintaining student privacy.
Content Writing and Editing Writes, edits, and proofreads content for the purpose of creating print, website, social media, and family communications.
Data Analysis and Reporting Writes, publishes, and analyzes complex data from various sources for the purpose of providing data-driven feedback to inform department and school district decisions.
Marginal FunctionsPersonnel Assistance Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Related Duties Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
