The job of Prevention-Intervention Professional is done for the purpose of working with the True North Student Assistance program providing prevention and intervention, and referral services for students and their families who are impacted by behavioral health conditions; and assisting in the development of a safe and drug free learning environment for learning and teaching.

This job reports to Clinical Supervisor.
Essential FunctionsThe Prevention-Intervention Professional conducts a variety of actions such as screenings, interventions, and referrals for the purpose of identifying and addressing behavioral health issues in compliance with applicable laws, True North policies, and performance standards.
The position educates school staff, students, and parents on a variety of programs and services including drug and alcohol awareness programs and mental health promotion campaigns for the purpose of increasing awareness, identifying issues, providing referral, and coordinating service delivery.
The professional establishes a visible, accessible presence on campus at assigned locations for the purpose of increasing student awareness and identification of behavioral health issues.
The role facilitates behavioral health intervention groups focused on substance use and mental health for the purpose of resolving identified behavioral health concerns and following applicable laws, True North policies, and performance standards.
The position maintains individual student records and intervention files for the purpose of documenting student activities in compliance with federal, state, and program requirements.
The professional participates in a variety of committees and activities such as Student Assistance Teams, CORE, re-entry conferences, and assessment reviews for the purpose of providing information in the area of behavioral health prevention, intervention, and referral to treatment.
The role performs record keeping, data entry, and clerical functions including student records, program materials, and scheduling for the purpose of providing records and materials necessary for program success.
The position responds to inquiries for the purpose of solving problems and providing information and referral.
The professional serves as a liaison between the school and other systems partners such as juvenile justice and behavioral health treatment for the purpose of facilitating student support services, continuity of care and communication between participants.
The role utilizes evidenced-based and promising practices such as motivational interviewing, Project SUCCESS, and TRAILS for the purpose of providing effective behavioral health interventions.
Marginal FunctionsThe position assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
The professional performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements:Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Skills: The position requires skills to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include applying assessment instruments, operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications, preparing and maintaining accurate records and case management, and utilizing group presentation skills.
Knowledge: The role requires knowledge to perform basic math including calculations using fractions, percents, and ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies…
