Company Description
Community Eldercare Services is a family‑owned, multi‑generational, faith‑based management organization dedicated to reconnecting people to life through individuals serving individuals. Community Eldercare Services operates 17 Skilled Nursing Facilities and 2 Assisted Living Facilities across Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama. The culture emphasizes integrity, collaboration, and long‑term commitment to the communities it serves.
Role DescriptionThe Corporate Controller is a full‑time, on‑site leadership role based in Tupelo, MS, responsible for building, leading, and continuously improving the accounting function for a 17‑SNF portfolio and its management company. This role is accountable for creating a reliable and scalable accounting engine that delivers timely, accurate, and trusted financial information while strengthening internal controls, improving the efficiency of the month‑end close, and reducing recurring accounting, reconciliation, and follow‑up work for the CFO.
The Controller owns the month‑end close process and ensures the integrity of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and the organization's accounting records.
The Corporate Controller oversees senior accounting staff as well as the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, providing leadership across all core accounting operations. Responsibilities include reviewing journal entries, accruals, prepaids, intercompany transactions, allocations, and recurring close work papers; maintaining accounting policies, chart of accounts discipline, and consistent expense classification in coordination with reimbursement leadership; and overseeing the fixed asset accounting process, including additions, disposals, depreciation support, and reconciliation to Sage Fixed Assets or other fixed asset management systems.
The Controller also leads annual audit preparation by managing Prepared by Client (PBC) schedules, coordinating auditor requests, and ensuring timely completion of all audit deliverables.
As a strategic business partner, the Corporate Controller works closely with the CFO and FP&A team to provide meaningful financial insights that support operational and strategic decision‑making. Daily responsibilities include monitoring cash flow, supporting internal and external audits, identifying opportunities to optimize financial processes, and implementing scalable accounting practices that improve accuracy, efficiency, and accountability across the organization. Success in this role is measured by the delivery of reliable financial reporting, strong internal controls, streamlined accounting operations, and an accounting function that enables leadership to focus on driving the business forward rather than managing recurring accounting issues.
First‑YearOutcomes
Monthly close consistently completed within 10 business days. Balance sheet reconciliations completed, reviewed, and documented monthly.
