McCarty Architects is seeking a Project Architect to join our team in Tupelo, Mississippi. This is a full‑time, in‑person position based in our Tupelo office.
For more than forty years, McCarty Architects has provided high‑quality architectural design throughout Mississippi and the Southeast. Our work includes education, healthcare, civic, commercial, religious, and community‑focused projects. This position offers meaningful project responsibility, direct access to firm leadership, and the opportunity to help guide projects from early planning through construction. Project Architects work closely with clients, consultants, firm leadership, and internal teams to coordinate technical solutions, support design decisions, and turn ideas into built work.
Responsibilities- Lead and contribute to projects from programming through construction administration
- Develop design concepts, presentation materials, and construction documents
- Coordinate with structural, MEP, civil, and other consultants
- Participate in client meetings, consultant coordination, and construction‑phase communication
- Review work for design intent, code compliance, schedule, budget, and constructability
- Support RFIs, submittals, field observations, and contractor coordination
- Mentor and collaborate with other members of the project team
- Accredited professional degree in architecture
- Five or more years of professional architectural experience
- Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience coordinating drawings, consultants, schedules, and construction administration
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Healthcare and/or higher education experience is preferred
- Architectural licensure is preferred but not required

Required Qualifications- Accredited professional degree in architecture
- Five or more years of professional architectural experience
- Experience developing and coordinating construction documents
- Experience coordinating consultants, schedules, and construction administration
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Strong technical, written, verbal, and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of building codes and construction practices
- Ability to work collaboratively with clients, consultants, and project teams
- Ability to work full‑time in our Tupelo, Mississippi office
- Architectural licensure or active progress toward licensure
- Experience with healthcare and/or higher education projects
- Proficiency in Sketch Up and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Experience with RFIs, submittals, field observations, and contractor coordination
