Tupelo Children's Mansion (TCM) is a Christ-centered, nonprofit residential children's home located in Tupelo, Mississippi. Since 1953, TCM has provided a safe, nurturing environment for children and families experiencing crisis. Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a dynamic and engaging curriculum that fosters the intellectual, emotional, and social development of our students. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families in our community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with Tupelo Christian Academy educational philosophy and standards.
- Creates a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Plans and facilitates daily lessons and activities in assigned subject areas.
- Differentiates instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and interests of students, including those with special needs or language barriers.
- Provides individualized support and enrichment opportunities to help students achieve academic and personal growth.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues, fostering a supportive and collaborative learning community.
- Assess student progress through ongoing observation, formative assessments, and formal evaluations, providing feedback to students and families as needed.
- Collaborates with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives, curriculum enhancements, and student support strategies.
Participates in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education and child development. - Adheres to all licensing regulations, school policies, and procedures to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Collaborates with the IEP committee to develop, document, and implement individual education programs.
- Oversees and attends school activities and extracurricular as assigned (i.e., holiday parties, field days, team sports, volunteer tutoring hour, girl scouts, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Education.
- Valid teaching license or certification appropriate for the grade level and subject area being taught is required.
- Previous teaching experience in a formal classroom setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of child development principles, instructional strategies, and curriculum design.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Passion for working with children from diverse backgrounds, including those facing socio-economic challenges or trauma.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a growth mindset to respond to the evolving needs and dynamics of a school environment.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Be available, flexible, dependable, punctual, and reliable.
