Nursing Assistant & Transporter

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or other medical provider.
• Take patients' vital signs, assist with daily activities, administer medication, attend to patient needs.
• Assess the transportation needs of the patient (wheelchair, lifting assistance, etc.).
• Assist patient with sign-in process.
• Direct ambulatory patients/family members to appropriate location within Cancer Center.
• Greets patient/family members in a courteous and helpful manner.
• Observe patients’ condition and report any changes to the Registered Nurse/medical provider for further assessment.
• Document patient interaction as needed.
• Observe and document relevant information for Recordkeeping/Reports as required.

• Effectively communicates with staff members.

• Maintain continuing education requirements.

• Assist with transporting supplies and restocking as needed.

• Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines.
• Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal procedures/guidelines/regulations.

• High School Diploma or equivalent; required.
• Certified as a Nursing Assistant in the state of Mississippi; highly desirable.
• Good interpersonal skills; required.
• Must be service oriented; required.
• Interaction with a patient population of all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics; required.
