Supervisory
- Supervises the Department Secretary and Associate Chaplain. This position also mentor’s two chaplains part-time that are located at the Women’s Hospital and Inpatient Hospice.
- Coordinates pastoral care activities with plans of care developed from spiritual assessments, which are performed with patients to support medical and/or nursing plans of care.
- Serves patients and family members with spiritual care or counseling and support during their stay. This position provides appropriate devotional materials and literature for patients, family members, visitors, and employees.
- Works closely with the Greater Tupelo Ministerial Association and serves as a resource person and as a liaison between the North Mississippi Medical Center and community clergy and church organizations. This position develops and maintains a Volunteer Chaplaincy Program to expand pastoral care services.
- Coordinates volunteer chaplains and regular Chapel Services at Main Unit, Behavioral health, Women’s Hospital, and Baldwyn Nursing Facility.
- Plans and develops continuing education programs for area clergy and lay ministers. This also includes the provision of a monthly clergy and chaplain newsletter.
- Coordinates activities and reports of the Consultation and Education Committees.
- Performs church rites such as funerals, memorial services, and baptisms or arranges for an appropriate area clergy person to do so as requested by patient or family, or staff.
- Maintaining the intranet sites associated with the Pastoral Care Department.
- Requires Master of Divinity Degree, Licensed and Ordination and at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.
- This position also requires at least three years of pastoral experience.
- It is highly desired that the position is or will become Board Certified.
- Must be able to demonstrate unique pastoral care knowledge and skills necessary to provide spiritual care to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients; this care includes grief, bereavement, and crisis intervention.
