Systems Administrator, Systems Engineer
Overview
JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for the recommendation, implementation, administration, and performance of all NMHS IT on-premises and cloud applications, servers, and storage infrastructure. This position reports to the IT Systems Administration Manager and will be expected to assist in management, as well as, planning and design of all IT infrastructure systems.
Responsibilities- Design, configure, deploy, and maintain applications, servers and storage solutions, both on-premises and in the cloud
- Exhibit “subject matter expert” level of knowledge concerning supported applications/systems
- Proactively work to improve reliability, stability, and security of all supported systems
- Maintain maximum efficiency and performance of all systems in order to meet organizational SLAs
- Recommend and assist in planning new system acquisitions based off organizational needs
- Lead specific implementation and deployment projects for the team as designated by IT leadership
- Collaborate and communicate with customers, vendors, leadership and staff
- Research and evaluate emergent technologies and their impact to the organization
- Document accurate system changes, revisions and operating procedures
- Lead and coordinate critical situation remediation with multiple IT teams and vendors
- Troubleshoot and diagnose advanced software and hardware issues affecting the organization’s infrastructure
- Automate technical workflows and processes to gain efficiencies
- Provide technical guidance, consulting and support to team members as required for system operations
- Triage and respond to Tier3/4 incidents
- Provide 24/7 support for critical systems
- Maintain and grow technical skillset through education and certification
- Performs other duties as assigned by IT leadership
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or related field) Required
Or High School Diploma or GED Equivalent with 8 years of additional work experience Required
Licenses and CertificationsDriver License (valid and in-state) required upon hire
IT Industry Certifications (e.g., Microsoft, A+, Vmware, Citrix, Epic) Preferred
Work Experience7-9 years. Minimum of 8 years’ experience in configuring, troubleshooting, installing, and maintenance of server software and computer systems in complex IT environments Required
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Expert-level knowledge and experience with server operating systems, virtualization technologies, directory/cloud/messaging services, and storage area networks
- Competency with data protection, security, and monitoring tools
- Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in scripting languages for automation
- Experience with public cloud
- Project management
- Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with little oversight
- Plans and organizes tasks
