The Material Handler is responsible for supporting daily production and warehouse operations by ensuring materials, components, packaging, work-in-process, and finished goods are moved, staged, and supplied accurately and on time. This role supports uninterrupted manufacturing flow by delivering materials to production and secondary assembly areas, preparing products for internal movement or shipment, loading and unloading trailers, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

The Material Handler must operate forklifts, pallet jacks, powered industrial trucks, and other material handling equipment safely while following established work instructions, quality standards, 5S practices, and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supply raw materials, components, packaging, and work-in-process materials to manufacturing and secondary assembly areas to support uninterrupted production flow.
  • Prepare WIP and finished goods for internal movement or shipment in accordance with work instructions, including stretch wrapping, strapping, labeling, and staging.
  • Move WIP, finished goods, scrap, and non-conforming materials from production areas to the warehouse, staging locations, scrap areas, or designated storage locations.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely while completing required pre-use inspections and safety documentation.
  • Load and unload trailers, verify materials against shipping or receiving documentation, and ensure products are handled and staged accurately.
  • Support inventory accuracy by verifying counts, identifying discrepancies, performing cycle counts, and communicating inventory issues to the appropriate team members.
  • Complete required production, inventory, warehouse, and quality records accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Work overtime as needed to support production schedules, shipping deadlines, and business needs.

Qualifications

  • Maintain cleanliness of manufacturing and storage areas using 5S standards.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that demonstrates the highest level of quality and safety.
  • High school diploma and 2 years of material handler experience typically required.
