Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients in clinic and acute care settings while adhering to established standards and protocols. This position is responsible for providing patient education, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring clinical competence through continuing education. The Nurse Practitioner must demonstrate leadership skills to work independently, exercise professional judgment, and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, patients, and families while ensuring high-quality and cost-efficient patient care.

Patient

Care

Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the clinic setting and/or acute care setting according to the scope of practice outlined by the Board of Nursing, approved protocols, national standards of practice, and as directed by the physician preceptor.

Patient

Education:

Provides patients/families with education related to the disease process, health, and wellness. Serves as a resource for community agencies as appropriate.

Documentation:
Ensures timely and accurate documentation of patient status and patient care activities including treatments, procedures, and medications prescribed.

Continuing

Education:

Ensures clinical competence and stays abreast of changes in medical management by participating in a variety of health care education activities.

Job Functions

Qualifications Education
  • Master's Degree in nursing with appropriate licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (Required).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Mines current AHA CPR certification (Required).
Work Experience
  • 1-3 years. If degree was obtained online and was not through a Hybrid campus online program, must have completed a minimum of 2 years work experience as a Nurse Practitioner (Required).
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years RN clinical experience in setting appropriate to practice (Required).
Skills / Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Maintains and enhances knowledge and skills in current technology and practice to provide care to appropriate population.
  • Has primary responsibility for a wide variety of patient care activities.
  • Can work without close supervision, exercise independent judgment, organize multiple tasks, and maintain control of workflow.
  • Displays professional demeanor at all times.
  • Promotes harmonious, cooperative working relationships with clinic personnel, physicians, patients, families, and others.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
